Applications Engineering Programmer

Responsibilities

Provide SW test automation, regression testing, documentation, revision control, and technical support for a PC hosted GUI used to operate Optichron's product evaluation and product development boards. Includes creation and testing of flash memory images used to configure and operate Optichron's digital pre-distortion chipsets in customer-designed wireless communications systems.

Collaborate with GUI SW developer to enhance and integrate new capabilities into the GUI tool, including testing and maintenance of code for an embedded microcontroller.

Design, develop, and maintain in-house software tools and test automation for Optichron's product development engineering as required.

Requirements:

  • Industry experience in software programming and system level test automation
  • SW testing, revision control, documentation and release management experience
  • Embedded microcontroller development plus, 8051 preferred
  • GUI development experience a plus
  • Experience LabWindows/CVI environment a plus
  • Experience in wireless product development a plus
  • Experience with Matlab a plus
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required

Senior Systems Applications Engineer

Responsibilities

Provide tactical and strategic support for DPD and CFR products. Support customer design-in activities, optimize system-level performance, and support new product development. Author application notes, datasheets, trade show papers, and training materials.

The candidate must have a good understanding of wireless transceiver systems as Optichron’s products use digital signal processing techniques to compensate for distortion and other impairments caused by analog components. Signal processing experience is a plus.

Some familiarity with wireless communications standards (e.g. GSM/EDGE, UMTS, WiMAX) especially as they relate to RF performance measurements (e.g., ACLR, SEM, SFDR, PAR) is desirable.

Requirements

  • BS/MSEE with a minimum of 5 years of industry experience.
  • RF system engineering experience required
  • Experience in wireless communications required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally (typically less than 3 weeks/year)

Field Applications Engineer

Responsibilities & Requirements

Provide technical support for customers during evaluation and design-in of Optichron products. Secure proprietary design projects at customers in the wireless communications space. Develop and/or modify demo boards for clients. Troubleshoot circuits, review schematics and assist with board layout and debug. Lead technical discussions and present technical features and benefits of company products. Attend tradeshow events and perform product demonstrations. Review and provide input to product datasheets and application notes. Provide product training to customers. Provide regular feedback to the company's engineering, product development and marketing teams regarding product definition and direction. Serve as a liaison between company and clients, providing technical expertise and support to customers and valuable market feedback data for product development efforts for future releases. Domestic and international travel to customer sites will be required. Position will be based in Fremont, CA, at company’s headquarters.

  • PCB design and debug skills required; experience with test and measurement of wireless communication systems; power amplifier test experience a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required
  • Ability to travel extensively worldwide required
